Why Heau?
Here’s how it works
Start showering
When you turn on the shower, the water in the pipes between the boiler and the shower is cold. The Heau tap detects the cold water with a unique regulation valve and sends it to the left compartment. The cold water now applies pressure via a flexible membrane on the stored hot water and sends it to the mixing valve. This gives you hot water at the start.
Heau in action
The Heau tap collects all the cold water from the pipes and releases hot water to the mixing valve so you can enjoy your desired temperature.
Charging
At a certain moment hot water from the boiler reaches the shower. The Heau mechanism detects this and flips internally. The cold water inlet is shut off and the hot water inlet is send to the right compartment. The mixing valve will now receive cold water from the left compartment, allowing the right compartment to increase in size and charge the system.
Fully recharged
The right compartment is now full. The hot water is stored in a chamber surrounded by special insulation inside a vacuum. This allows the heat to remain sufficient for 3 days.
Your next shower
When you turn on the shower, the whole cycle starts over.

Frequently Asked Questions
Hot water temperature from boiler | Max. time between showers |
---|---|
55°C (min. temperature – NEN1006) | 3 days |
62°C | 4 days |
70°C (max. temperature) | 5 days |
The Heau shower will not have sufficient energy to provide you with instant hot water after 2 weeks. The first shower session after this holiday will have the old waiting time, but then the system is automatically recharged for the next time.
The only limitation is distance between boiler and shower. The shower is built for a maximal distance of 30 meters of piping. The distance is in 99.9% of households below 30m. Should you be the lucky 0.1% that lives in a very big castle, you can contact us for a tailored product😉
The system works on the power of the water itself and does not require electricity. Only a hot and cold water connection is required.
Obviously, we want people to shower in safe conditions. To eliminate any risk, we performed extensive testing together with research facilities.
We emphasize customers to have a minimal hot water temperature of 55°C according to NEN1006. A lower temperature can generate problems in the entire hot water circuit.
Yes, you do. The shower tap does require the external heat energy in a previous hot shower and does not heat the water.
The water pressure should be between 2 bar and 7 bar. In developed countries, this will be the case in almost every household.
The shower tap works independently from the heat source, so it is compatible with all heat sources.
Only an industry standard 1/2″ thread connector with hot and cold water is required.
